Frequently Asked Questions

What is a professional organiser?

Professional organisers help people organise, declutter, sort and stage their homes. It’s different to a cleaner in that the job is predominantly to tidy – sort and remove unwanted clutter. Often, they are hired to help overhaul a particular space or for a project, like unpacking a new home or setting up your dream garage.

What areas do you service?
We are based on the south end of the Central Coast and service Patonga, Pearl Beach, Umina, Woy Woy, Ettalong, Kariong, Empire Bay, St Hubert’s Island, Avoca, Copacabana, Gosford, Erina, Kincumber, Saratoga, Davistown, Daley’s Point, Killcare, McMaster’s Beach, Bensville, Wamberal, Green Point, Wyoming and everything in-between. We can also travel out of these areas for an extra fee.

Now servicing the upper north shore
Finding Organisation has expanded to cover all Sydney Suburbs north of Hornsby. So if you live in Berowra, Mt Colah, Kuring-gai, Cowan, Brooklyn or Hornsby Heights – please, reach out. There is a travel fee of $100 for these suburbs.

How do you charge?

We offer a free phone consultation for all clients – just to make a plan. And then decide what package will work best for them.

Do you offer pantry organisation?

Sure, we love creating beautiful and functional pantries, we can even create custom labels – if that’s what you’re looking for. Investing in a great pantry system can actually save you money in the long run as a tidy pantry makes it easier to see, and use what you have – cutting down on food wastage. And good quality jars can keep food fresh for longer,  and protect them from pantry moths and other bugs. Check out our favourite pantry organisation products.

Do you do home staging?

Yes, in a way. If you have an empty home that needs to be staged for a sale, then a professional organiser shouldn’t be your first port of call. But, if you are looking to make your home look more open, tidier, more organised or less cluttered for a sale – we can help you stage your home. Home stagers charge thousands of dollars to move new furniture and homewares in. They do a beautiful job, but you don’t get to keep anything they use. We can, instead, help you create breathtaking areas that help sell a home – like organised wardrobes and Pinterest perfect pantries, and all of the products used are yours to take to your new home. We can also help source and put together new furniture and also style your space with new or previously owned items.

Do you make custom labels?

Sure, not only do we make custom labels, you can also read all about how to make labels with a Cricut Joy on our blog.

How can I convince someone to declutter?

Unfortunately, we can’t tell you how to convince someone to declutter, because it’s really up to the individual to motivate their journey. We often get contacted by well-meaning relatives and friends who just want to help – but we rarely take the job. Professional organisers are great at helping people who are chronically messy or disorganised, as long as THEY want to get sorted. If not, it’s a waste of time and money.

How do I declutter my own house?

It’s a process, and the best way to do it is to start in one small space, like a drawer. But before you can do that, it’s a good idea to establish a solid ‘why’. Do you want more time, more space, or just a little more calm in your home. Are your family often losing things – or is your home so messy that you feel like you’re drowning? Whatever the problem, knowing what you want to achieve will guide you through your decision making process. We recommend getting the professionals in though! Get in contact, and we can help you get started with our decluttering service.

How to start decluttering when overwhelmed?

Choose a small space to start with, like a table or drawer.

Get a garbage bag and a donation box.

Put everything that’s rubbish in the bin.

Put everything you don’t want that’s in good condition in the donation box.

Rehome everything that needs to go to the kitchen, then the laundry, then other spaces in the house.

Give the space a quick clean and take a moment to appreciate the clutter free area.

Rinse and repeat.
