I am a professional organiser, writer and photographer living and working on the NSW Central Coast.
For the last ten years it’s been my job to research, develop and write about hacks to make parenting and home life easier, so the natural evolution was towards putting the ideas into practice.
But I wasn’t always organised
Anyone who took a step into my teenage bedroom is gasping right now – I have, over the years, been the proud owner of some of the messiest and least organised spaces that have ever existed.
But… becoming a mum meant that I had to get it together. So I started figuring out what worked for me.
Reading books, following bloggers, creating systems that failed – and writing articles about the process.
And now I have figured out ways to keep spaces tidy and organised, even when the person in charge of them is NOT!
My clients appreciate these systems
If you’re time-poor, unorganised and drowning in your own home – you don’t need complicated solutions. You need tried and tested, simple and maintainable systems. That’s what I bring to the table. Sometimes they’re radical – like throwing out all of your towels and introducing a colour coded system.
Sometimes it’s a simple as moving commonly used items to a place where they’re easier to access and put away.
So many professional organisers are naturally organised people. And this is obviously fantastic. But I see them chatting in Facebook groups I’m in and often they have no idea how to help their clients.
They talk about how they set up intricate systems that get ignored and vent about clients with ADHD who want to keep creating new and interesting set-ups.
Often they are forgetting one very important detail; it’s not their home, it’s the client’s.
It’s our responsibility to find a solution that works for you – for your home and your brain.
I’m someone who has gone from drowning in my home and motherhood to someone who has hacks and systems in place that work. And I love sharing my secrets.
